Training Initiative Boosts Bangladesh’s Rooftop Solar Energy Expansion Efforts

GIZ’s efforts to expand the coverage of rooftop solar energy projects receive an impetus as we undertake training of top Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies in Bangladesh.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, and Bangladesh Solar and Renewable Energy Association, the Policy Advisory for Promoting Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (PAP) project organised a 5-day training for the EPC companies from 12 to 16 November 2023.

Led by the trainers from 8.2 Renewable Energy Experts, an international consulting firm, the training involved 25 participants from the leading EPC companies. These companies are crucial players in the lifecycle of rooftop solar projects, right from project design through to their implementation.
The training provided a deep dive into Photovoltaic (PV) technology and its global applications. Participants gained hands-on experiences in site inspections, system design, installation, quality monitoring, safety protocols, and financial considerations. They also inspected two rooftop solar sites and identified ways to making the systems more efficient as a group learning activity.

The closing ceremony, attended by key figures including Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board, lauded the training initiative.
