The first ever Responsible Business Hub (RBH) kicks off in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), in collaboration with the Initiative for Global Solidarity of GIZ hosted the inauguration ceremony.
The Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy, Mr. Jan Janowski, welcomed the participants and highlighted that the Responsible Business Hub is one of many German support measures for different stakeholders to help them gain capacities for German and European market access, especially in the context of ongoing discussions on GSP+.
Mr. Reinhard Junker, Deputy Head of Division, Sustainable Supply Chains, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), presented a keynote paper, where he outlined the current developments in Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) in Europe and their impact on global supply chains including that of Bangladesh.
High officials of BGMEA and BKMEA attended addressed the event among others.
