Rangpur, Bangladesh: Save the Children is thrilled to announce the launch of a groundbreaking project, “Strengthening the Maternal & Neonatal Health System in Rangpur, Bangladesh.” Made possible by a generous contribution from the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency), the initiative seeks to reduce maternal mortality rates and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3 within the Rangpur division.
In close collaboration with the Directorate of Family Planning, Directorate of Health Services, RDRS Bangladesh, and icddr,b, this transformative project will be executed in three phases. Initially, the focus will be on the Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts, with plans for expansion in the remaining districts of the division.
The project adopts a comprehensive approach that encompasses various crucial elements, including prenatal care, skilled birth attendance, postnatal care, family planning, and emergency obstetric care. By establishing sustainable systems, the aim is to ensure equitable access to high-quality healthcare services for all. The project aligns with SDG 3 and the government’s maternal and child health policy, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving healthcare quality and accessibility across the country.
