Overview
- The weekly number of reported cases continued to drop for the fifth consecutive week. A total of 12 634 cases were reported this week compared to 15 432 for the previous week, a decrease of 18%. The weekly number of reported deaths was 78 this week compared to 86 in the previous week.
- During the reporting week, the number of reported cases decreased in all the divisions except Sylhet. However, at the district level, Faridpur, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Rajbari districts showed an increasing trend of dengue cases and each reported at least 100 cases this week.
- Hospitals that reported deaths include Dhaka Medical College Hospital (13), followed by Faridpur Medical College Hospital (9), Khulna Medical College Hospital and Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal (7 each), and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (5).
- Cumulatively 267 680 cases including 1 333 deaths have been reported since January 2023. The highest number of cases (79 598) and deaths (398) reported in a single month was in September 2023.
- An orientation session was provided by WHO for entomologists in Dhaka area on Thursday 26 October. The session provided an opportunity for international vector experts and national entomologists to share experiences and chart way forward.
