Chinese embassy in Bangladesh hosts reception marking 74th founding anniversary of PRC

The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh on Monday hosted a reception to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

Yao Wen, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh, delivered keynote speech while Asaduzzaman Khan, MP and Minister of Home Affairs, graced the function as the chief guest.

Faruk Khan, MP and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Parliament, Dr Md Enamur Rahman, MP and State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, Army Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Md Saiful Alam, Army Quarter Master General, Bangladeshi china Alifa Chin and her family members, together with over 1,000 guests comprised of heads of government agencies, representatives of the military and political parties, heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations in Bangladesh, representatives of Chinese companies, Confucius Institutes and the Chinese communities in Bangladesh, and members of prominent media houses and think tanks attended the event.

Ambassador Yao said in his speech said that the People’s Republic of China, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, has created two miracles of rapid economic development and long-term social stability that are rare in the world, successfully opened up a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics over the past 74 years since its founding. At present, the Chinese people are pursuing the second centenary goal of building a great modern socialist country in all respects. Though the global economy is undergoing a rocky recovery, China’s economy has maintained a good momentum of rebound and improvement. China’s economy will remain on a positive trajectory over the long run and achieve the steady growth on the track of high-quality development, continuing to inject confidence and impetus into the global recovery. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness of neighborly diplomacy. China highly values developing relations with Bangladesh. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 48 years ago, the two countries have always been time-tested friends with unwavering mutual trust, close partners for joint development and good brothers supporting each other, setting an example of win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes. This August, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina successfully held a bilateral meeting in South Africa, providing strategic guidance for the development of China-Bangladesh relations. Looking ahead, the two countries should seize the new historical opportunities of development, further integrate development strategies, carry out Belt and Road cooperation targeting high-quality development, and consolidate the foundation for people-to-people exchanges, thereby push China-Bangladesh relations to a higher level in the new era and work together for the early realization of the Chinese Dream of the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation and Bangladesh’s Vision 2041.

On behalf of the Bangladeshi government and people, the Honorable Minister Asaduzzaman Khan extended the best wishes to the Chinese government and people on occasion of the 74th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. Bangladesh and China enjoy a long history of friendship. Leaders of the two countries have always attached great importance to the development of bilateral relations. The successful meeting between the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit 2023 marks another significant high-level interaction between the two sides following President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Bangladesh in 2016 and the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s successful visit to China in 2019, which will create new momentum to the future development of relations of the two countries. China is Bangladesh’s largest trade partner and a trustworthy development partner. Through cooperation under the banner of BRI, Bangladesh has made great progress in infrastructure, information and communication, and sci-tech development. Bangladesh has always been firmly committed to the One-China Principle, and will continue to strengthen cooperation with China in regional and international affairs. Bangladesh appreciates China for its important role in facilitating the repatriation of displaced people of Rakhine State of Myanmar. Bangladesh looks forward to a higher level of strategic partnership between the two countries.

There were various attractive programs on the sideline of the reception. Actors of China’s Sichuan Overseas Friendship Association Cultural Exchange Mission performed acrobatics, Chinese calligraphy and Sichuan opera. An exhibition was held featuring on achievements of Belt and Road cooperation between China and Bangladesh. Cultural booths were set up with the themes of A Bite of Sichuan, Colorful Yunnan, Ink Wash, and Read China.
